Rowitz On Leadership

Joe K. was a strong person who had a large family and was very wealthy.  He believed that he and his family had the responsibility to give back to the community through family service.   He himself became an ambassador.   He taught all his children to be leaders and to give back to their community and to the nation. In fact, leadership became the family business.  Two of Joe’s sons were military heroes and one of those sons eventually became President of the United States. Two of the other sons became United States Senators.  One daughter started a family foundation.  Joe’s kids started the Special Olympics, Very Special Arts and other programs for mentally challenged individuals.  It would take a long list to describe all the leadership accomplishments of Joe’s kids and grandchildren.  Joseph Kennedy  created a family of leaders.

How we act and make leadership happen can clearly impact our families in a meaningful way.  Both John Adams and his son became Presidents of the United States. Prescott Bush was a Senator and his son and grandson became U.S. Presidents with a second grandson running for President in 2016.   The automobile family of Ford has multiple generations of business leaders.  The Roosevelt family had two cousins who became presidents.   Many other examples exist.  Thus, we can work with our families to make leadership a guiding value.
